The secret to crispy chicken wings
It’s easy to make thick wings in the oven with these two tips:
- Dry well with a paper towel to keep the spices from getting messy
- Yeast – raises the PH and dries the skin of the chicken for that well-deserved crunch.

Ingredients for crispy fried chicken wings
- Chicken wings – Cut into drumsticks, flats, and wing tips (see my instructions below).
- Yeast – Make sure it is aluminum free as some brands use aluminum which can make the wings bitter, sharp, or metallic. (*Note: do not use this as a baking soda, just leave it slightly)
- Season the chicken wings – black pepper, salt, garlic pepper, onion pepper, paprika (optional)

How to cut chicken wings
Chicken wings are sold in one piece, but it is easy to prepare the chicken for cooking by dividing the pieces into joints with a knife or kitchen shears.
- Find the joints – Place the chicken pieces on the cutting board so that you can see the drum, the flat or the wing, and the tip of the wing (pointing towards the tip).
- Cut off the tip of the wing on the joint and throw it away or use it to make chicken, because it doesn’t contain much meat.
- Remove the drumette from the wingettecuts the soft part of the joint. If it is difficult to cut, you may be on the bone.
