We love our indestructible manufacturers

here we go again! If you’ve read my recent posts, you know we love our insufferable makers.

I shared our almond butter and chocolate non-crust crust last time. The trick to making this recipe is using this delicious sauce.

Today, I’m sharing another homemade yummy favorite. Here’s our easy recipe for non-crusty peanut butter and honey.

Why Homemade Peanut Butter and Honey Doesn’t Crust

There are many reasons why we like to make our own crustless treats.

  • First, it reduces plastic packaging and waste.
  • Second, I use healthier ingredients.
  • Third, save a lot of money.
  • Fourth, it gives my kids a chance to be independent and cook their own meals.

For all of these reasons, we have used our non-crusty machine many times!

How is this recipe different from the store-bought version?

Let’s be honest, there’s nothing bad about peanut butter and honey. It only has three ingredients – peanut butter, honey and bread.

However, making your own peanut butter and honey crustless allows you to choose the ingredients you use.

For example, look at the ingredients in store-bought crust. You will see added sugar in peanut butter. In addition, sugar is the first ingredient in “honey sauce”.

By making this recipe at home, we can use peanut butter without added sugar. Plus, we use real honey and no processed sugar.

In short, there’s not much difference between the homemade version and the store-bought version. While these are simple swaps, they can help us eat a little healthier!

Tips for making peanut butter and honey crust-free

Since I’ve already shared a lot of tips, feel free to skip to my post on hard chocolate crisps. I’ll leave all the details there.

But here’s a quick overview:

  • Use a good machine that does not have a hard case.
  • Use soft bread.
  • Keep the filling in the center of the bread.
  • Don’t overstuff too much.

Looking for a no-compromise manufacturer

There are many different uncrustable manufacturers on Amazon. It took me a while to find the one I loved.

This is what I use. I think it works great!

This one I use creates the classic Smucker’s Uncrustables edge shape. Some other sandwich sealers end up giving the sandwich wavy edges.

What to do with the leftover crust?

A few people have asked what we do with the crust when we make homemade crust. What a great question!

The quick answer is: we won’t waste them!

Here are a few ways we use our crust.

Make croutons

Most of the time I make the crust into simple croutons. Kids love these croutons as a snack or dinner.

This is what I do. It’s very simple.

I fry the crust in olive oil and sprinkle with some spices. The kids love it when I use some combination of:

Butter works well instead of olive oil.

If you cut the crust into long strips, these croutons are perfect for dipping into hummus.

bread crumbs

It’s also easy to make some bread crumbs. Then I use bread crumbs for dinner.

To make the breadcrumbs, place the crust in the oven and heat over low heat for a while. Next, place the crust in a food processor or blender and pulse. Or just a little bread crumbs, crushed with a fork.

eat them

Simple. If I only make one sandwich, I just eat the crust for breakfast.

Sometimes I think two slices of bread are too much for a little kid. So that gives them a very large portion of bread.

no matter what we do, We don’t waste crust.
